Beware! This book is not what it seems! The story starts very sweetly, with an ugly little duck that is different from its brothers and sisters, but then it quickly becomes clear that there is something in the book that does not belong. Something that bites ... It's a super-sized crocodile! First he starts to eat the letters and then he even takes a bite out of the cover ... That creep should leave the book as soon as possible. But how? A hilarious story that invites toddlers to think along and participate.
This book has been voted one of the 10 most beautiful picture books of 2015!
'Once upon a time, long ago' and judging from the illustration next to it (and given the title page) you expect a retelling of the fairytale of the ugly duckling. But then suddenly the green tail of a crocodile appears at the bottom of the page. Soon the crocodile on the page is taking up more and more space. He even starts to eat letters, whole words, sentences. The ugly duckling tries to get the crocodile to sleep and if successful, he draws a pink tutu with the animal. When the crocodile awakens, he wants the book out and literally eats through the back cover. Extremely humorous picture book where the reader and child will enjoy a lot of fun. Such a picture book that a child will ask again and again, because it is actively involved in the story (if the ugly duck wants the crocodile to go to sleep, he is asked to rock the book gently back and forth). The lock is exciting, because the crocodile really tries to get out of the book. And if the toddler shakes the book well, the crocodile knows how to make a hole in the last page and the cover. Recommended. From approx. 4 years.
