Children are not allowed to come to the building, Bart knows that best. One day he crawls under the fence and controls the roller, the cement truck and the crane. Why is he doing that?
Bart loves the construction site and looks at the big machines every day. When two teenagers challenge him one afternoon to go to the yard while the construction workers are eating, he does this. But Bart asks them to call the police. The boys call the police, and in the meantime Bart controls a lot of machines: he rolls a car down with the roller, he pours concrete into the street with the cement truck and with the big crane he lifts a police car into the air. Fortunately, he puts it back on the floor, and then it becomes clear why Bart managed the machines ... Beautiful, humorous picture book with an unexpected, beautiful plot that an attentive reader may have seen coming. The highly detailed illustrations are always spread over two pages. The illustrator changes masterly from perspective, and zooms in and out alternately on the machines, the yard and the havoc that Bart does. The text contains a lot of action and lively dialogues and can be read aloud. The text is printed in a dark green, playful letter and forms an attractive whole with the illustrations. Funny, large format picture book from approx. 4 years.
