Wishbone Bike
The story of Wishbone Design Studio started in 2005 when Noah was 1 year old and Lulu was born.
They were four Kiwis, living in New York City. Rich comes from a small town in New Zealand. Not much of a city boy. He practically lived in Central Park for two years – he had little space and air.
The first Wishbone Bike was born to give his children a taste of the childhood he had. When we were little the grass was high, fresh air and people weren't always watching.
We ran where we wanted, drove until dark and ended up laughing at the end of a crazy day.
Rich designed and made the first Wishbone Bike prototypes in their NY bathroom. Then he moved into a garage in Wellington, into the studio – which is basically a cool old barn, crammed in next to a bookbinder, a cloth salesman and a windmill maker two houses down.
After some prototypes, the wishbone bike was created from this. The wooden 3 in 1 balance bike. The design team has grown and from this starting point they have also developed the following products: The wisbone bike recycled: This is made of recycled carpets The wisbone wagon: handcart, soap box and go-kart at the same time. Sustainability also plays an important role. This is not only expressed in the beautiful design, quality and material of the bicycle, but also in their support for projects for children. In 2012, they won the Junior Design Award for Best Eco Toy with their Wishbone Flip in Great Britain.
To this day, people buy the bicycle all over the world. This makes them very proud and happy!
happy riding,
